Class of 2009

On Monday 15 February, TSEP proudly celebrated the graduation of our current Grade 12 students. Following a traditional style ceremony in the school’s auditorium, in which students received certificates from Khun Kru Narong, TSEP had its own ceremony in the Green Room.

All TSEP students from grade 4 upwards were present to see students and teachers alike get all teary-eyed as the reality of leaving school life behind started to sink in. This wasn’t a sad event, however, and we all laughed at a photo slide show of the students as babies and young children.

The teachers took turns in expressing how proud they were of grade 12, how they were TSEPs first true graduates in that they have studied here since primary school, and that they all have very bright futures ahead of them.

Several students also made short speeches, largely echoing the sentiments of the teachers. The students were each given several small keepsakes to remind them of their time here and then there was lots of photo taking in the area outside the green room.

TSEP would again like to state how proud they are of the current G12 graduates. They have set a very high standard for future classes to match. While we are sad to see them leave, we are very happy at their success, and wish them all the best for the future.

It’s a special time at TSEP – graduation is approaching
quickly. Some of our grade 12 students have already worked
really hard to secure themselves a place in
further education at various Universities and will be
moving on to exciting new places in a much larger world
than they are used to. We are all very proud of them and
wish them every success in their endeavors. The following
is what they have to say about their aspirations and
expectations for the future.

Name: Parkpoom Kometsopha (Poom)

1. Which University are you going to?
Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU) in Oita
province, Japan.

2. Why did you choose that University?
Because I received a full tuition scholarship from the
university, and to have an experience abroad. So I would
like to go and embrace Japanese culture and customs.

3. What will you be studying?
I’m going to study in the major of “Health, Environmental
and Life Science”.

4. What do you think will be the biggest challenge at
University?

The biggest challenge for me is self discipline. I will
have to journey alone when I go there. I will need to have
stronger responsibility and self control if I want to
succeed in my undergraduate life.

5. What are you looking forward to the most?
I’m looking forward to experiencing new things, whether
they are obstacles or fortunate events. Nothing is better
than living your life to the limit (while maintaining
self-responsibility).

6. What will you miss about TSEP?
I will strongly miss my friends and my teachers, both Thai

wanted and finding many new friends.

Well… that’s hard. I think I’m going to miss my teachers,
friends, and also the environment here.

Photos (Sports Day 09)

Friday 27th of November is a day to remember. It was the day that Thewpahingarm School and TSEP held their flamboyant sports day celebration. The venue was at Sanam Nakkarat with some events taking place at the indoor basketball court. There were massive arenas set up for the students to take their place in which were all decorated by theme in lavish colour.

The day kicked off at around 7am when the VIP party made a spectacular entrance to the accompaniment of the Royal Navy brass band. A very special guest attended with Teacher Narong – the governor of Bangkok. After they had taken their seats the student parade started. There were four teams of Mattayom students who marched in turn round Sanam Nakkarat before gathering between their arenas for the opening ceremony. They were followed by the Prathom students who wore an array of extravagantly coloured costumes. Everyone was led by the brass band who marched off again.

The governor of Bangkok made a motivating speech to everyone’s delight and then a huge flock of balloons were released into the beautiful clear sky carrying the Sports Day banner. After this more excitement and motivation was provided by speeches after which the Kindergarten teams did their parade in miniature. Then everyone stood to attention and the whole school sang the Thewphaingarm school song in a deafening show of enthusiasm. Once this was over all the students took there places in their arenas in anticipation of the start of the shows.

The first team to perform was the Floating Market (the purple team). Second up was the Blue Airline (the blue team) who were followed by Red Station (the red team). Last to perform was the Science and Francois (the yellow team). As each team took the spotlight they performed some amazing dance routines which ranged from dancing air hostesses to traditional dancing. All the dancers performed very well and their choreography was second to none. It was so good that they gave the impression that they did a fair amount of practice beforehand. All the teams were very respectful and had a Royalty theme underpinning their performances.

Throughout the rest of the day and up until lunchtime there was a multitude of cheering celebration in a friendly competitive manner. Matayom students presented a variety of cheering mantras while Prathom students did a lot of cheering. Prathom had a cheerleading competition between the four teams which TSEP students (purple) won in spectacular fashion. This was interspersed with 100m sprinting races which started off with the younger students and ended with grade 12. TSEP had a strong presence in the races and won many of them.

Grades 1, 2, and 3 had there own cheering celebration indoors around mid morning. The mighty midgets also had cheerleading routines, a tug of war, some running races and in the background there was a cup shuffling competition which many students entered. They all had a lot of fun.

After lunch as the festivities continued outside amongst the Matayom students, Prathom moved indoor to the basketball court to continue their sports day. More cheerleading and cheering was accomplished during which the chair ball competition took place. The girls game was a serious battle of grit and determination which resulted in a resounding victory for TSEP. At the end of the day everyone returned to their positions outdoors for the closing ceremony. This was a fantastic sight and brought the day to a close. Everyone then went home to bed. The day was a lot of fun for everyone and a resounding success. We are all looking forward to next years event.
