On the afternoon of 25th June TSEP was privileged by a very special appearance - Poupee in Grade 12 is a member of a fantastic band which she brought to the school to perform  for  everyone. Before the band started all of TSEP’s grades and teachers packed themselves into the Green room to witness the musical feast ahead. Poupee is currently getting ready to study in America, and as many of you already know she is due to leave next   month.  It was a fantastic event which was enjoyed by everyone, and young Janny in Grade 2 once again demonstrated her enthusiastic dancing skills.
Teacher  Jimmy  contacted Poupee to find  out  some  information about the band and the following response is what she has to say:
Band name: NMAD(pronounced N-MAD), abbreviated from the Network of Music and Arts for People with Disabilities ==> N.M.A.D !

The band was founded two years ago by Mr. Saksil Singburom, the former band leader and former head of the network. He has a mission of gathering artists with disabilities to have some activities together to show the world what they can do.
I was one of the audience who saw their gig at Muengthong Thani so I went to talk with them after the show and I joined the band since then. We got to perform in places around Bangkok and some other cities like Pattaya, Kanchanaburi… we  also got  to  perform at Central World on World Music Festival last year. We held "Change your life by Music and Arts
Festival" in Santichaiprakarn Park, Pra-Atid Road last December and gathered international people with disabilities from Korea, Australia, Japan, and Cambodia and normal people like us to perform on stage together.  We've  also   been  on  television, Thai PBS channel, not long ago and  talked  about  our  mission.
We are an acoustic band but we play almost any genre really, it's a bit of a combination with Thai  traditional music. I haven't got time to write my own songs yet, but the guitarist in our band does and he's really good at it. Current members in our band are me(vocal, violin), Ni(vocal, guitar), Huak(Percussion), and K(guitar), he's a brand new member, but couldn't come to the school that day. Mr. Saksil is in Konkaen now, working on another branch of our network there.
I love being with my band mates, they are always happy,  cheerful and funny. And I love the feeling each time we get to perform on stage, its awesome! We've had some great gigs together and lots of fun. I would love to do something musically in the future, of course, but I'll have to see about that. I won’t be with my band  anymore after I leave to the states, that's  sad. But  I've  registered two music classes at the college so I won't abandon music totally. It is likely to stick with me.
      forever :D

On Friday the 11th of June TSEP and Thewphaingarm School held its annual Wai Kru , or Teacher Respect day. This is a day when students pay their respects and show their appreciation to their educators.
Students do this by presenting their teachers with garlands of flowers as a sign of respect and readiness to learn. Many students honoured their teachers with needle flowers which represent the students promise to keep their minds as sharp as needles throughout their studies.

The celebration was held in the splendor of the school’s 4th floor grand meeting room and was held in two sessions over the morning and afternoon to accommodate the large numbers of students. Kindergarten and primary students were first to fill the hall in the morning. During  the event  students  sang  songs  and  recited poems to the teachers to demonstrate their appreciation. It
was a very decorative occasion where selected students from each grade had the  responsibility  of  ceremoniously coming up on to the stage to present teachers with stunning arrangements of flowers. The event concluded with a wonderful speech from Teacher Narong himself, encouraging the  students  to  be  disciplined, prompt and respectful during the rest of the  school  year.  At  various  points  throughout   the   proceedings  Thewphaingarm  and TSEP  students  played   some   beautifully rendered music on traditional Thai musical instruments. In the  afternoon   secondary   students   repeated the event and a wonderful time was had by all.

All four of last year’s grade 12 will be attending university in the near future. This is a special moment for TSEP as they are our first ever graduates and therefore the first TSEP students to attend a higher education institution. Studying at TSEP should have left them well-prepared for the student life they will now experience. We wish them all the best for the future. We are all really proud of you!
